This 1962 mid-century house had almost everything you would want in a house. Big rooms, an open floor plan, a big lot, and incredible views of the city. The only thing it needed was a remodel. Keeping with the mid-century style, we remodeled the entire house and added 900 square feet for a new Master Bedroom Suite and a large Family Room.
With a pie shaped lot, the new layout resulted in a view for almost every room. Sliding and pocketing glass doors were used in the Living, Dining and Family Rooms, which open up to the covered patios and views. The post and beam construction make the ceiling appear to float, and the open floor plan gives the house a very large feel.
The Living Room has custom built-in shelves with a flush TV panel recessed above a linear gas fireplace. Keeping with the mid-century style, the Kitchen cabinets are all flush walnut panels with hidden appliances. Walnut was also used on all the interior doors, trim and baseboards.
