Tacos Libertad is a gourmet taqueria, with tacos cooked cover coals in the open kitchen’s custom wood fired grill. It is also San Diego’s first for-charity restaurant, which donates one hundred percent of its profits to a locally-based charity that will change monthly. The design created a wrap around bar, where guest can watch and interact with the cooks in the center open kitchen. The walls are covered in vibrant blue colored tiles and art work influenced by world music icon Manu Chao,
Hidden behind Tacos Libertad is Caché, a secret speakeasy modeled after a vintage French cocktail den. Guests enter through a walk-in cooler door in the back of the taco shop to the upscale 50-seat bar. Centered in the bar are 3 large olive trees, sourrounded by vintage chandeliers, walls papered in antique vellum and a large-scale mural of one of French artist Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec’s most iconic works.
